Shots Fired

With a variety of 9mm ammunition, I found that the HS2000 digested it with as smooth as silk, some loads more accurate than others. Our test HS2000 seemed to prefer some of the 124-grain 9mm bullets, and put five of them into groups hovering about 2 inches with regularity. Other loads printed 5-shot groups of 3 inches or more at 25 yards. A few failures to feed were experienced with one very large hollow point. However, in these cases only a push on the slide with the palm of the hand was needed to chamber the round. Other bullet styles worked flawlessly.

Druthers

Like other polymer pistols on the market, I wish the HS2000 were prettier, but alas, if a pistol is to be used at all, performance is really everything and the HS2000 seems to love to perform. Behind the pistol's funneled magazine well is some dead space where a lanyard hole, like that on the GLOCK, would surely make sense. This is especially true in light of Gemtech's Handgun Retention System. Still, that portion of the HS2000's frame can easily be drilled to accommodate a lanyard.
These few criticisms notwithstanding, overall I found the HS2000 an outstanding pistol. Although no holsters were available when this was written, a brand new HS2000 duty holster should be available from Hogue shortly after you read this, and another from Safariland will follow.
If you surmised that the HS2000 is packaged for the American Law Enforcement market, you're right, but law-abiding citizens can own it too at a price you won't believe.
